Tetrastar -Triploid Ryegrass #30521

Tetrastar -Triploid Ryegrass #30521

Tetrastar tetraploid annual ryegrass was selected for its seedling vigor, productivity and regrowth making it ideally suited for managed grazing operations. Most standard ryegrass seed planted are diploids these contain 14 chromosomes and Tetraploids contain 28. These chromosomes produce more plant cells and the more chromosomes the more sugar the plant can store and give back to the plant, aiding in quicker establishment and recovery. Diploids have two sets of chromosomes per plant cell, where tetraploids have four per cell resulting in deeper roots and better wear tolerance compared to diploids. Tetrastar tetraploid annual ryegrass has shown good resistance to foliar diseases that can impact forage quality and persistence such as rust and ryegrass blast. Well suited for many applications, such as cattle and livestock pasture. hay or silage production, foodplots with heavy grazing pressure and cover crop.
